What is Belt drive?

In short

A belt drive replaces the bicycle chain with a rubber belt, giving a quieter, cleaner drive that needs far less upkeep.

A chain drive needs oil, tension and the occasional replacement. A belt drive runs on a smooth rubber belt inside a sealed housing, so it is quiet, keeps your clothes clean and can go a long time without attention. The brands here split: AsVIVA and Aventon state a belt drive, while ACTBEST EBike and Apexwill Ebike do not. The difference usually shows in the price too, so check whether the belt drive is listed on the exact model you are considering rather than elsewhere in the range.
