What is Throttle?

In short

A throttle drives the motor on demand without pedalling, which helps on hills and at junctions but can place the machine in a different legal class.

Pedal assist only moves the bike while you are pedalling. A throttle adds a separate control, usually on the handlebar, that drives the motor on demand, which is useful on a steep hill or when pulling away at a junction. All the brands in this group state a throttle, so weigh it against the class rules for your area rather than treating it as an extra. A machine with a throttle can be regulated differently from a pedal assist only model, and that may affect where you are allowed to ride it.
