How to choose cheap e-bikes: price, range, brakes and support

Cheap e-bikes get compared on the headline price, but the figures worth trusting are the assist class, the page behind each spec and the warranty behind the seller.

Start with the price you will actually pay

HK BEIRUI TRADE CO. sells direct rather than through dealers, and its e-bike range starts at $399 and tops out at $899.99. That band covers multiple models, including F26, F30, GT30, GT16Plus, so treat it as a range rather than a ticket price. Both HK BEIRUI TRADE CO. and iSinwheel offer finance, which turns the headline figure into a monthly one and changes what you are comparing.

Give that figure some context. Across the listings we track, entry prices run €175.38 to €999, and the upper end of the same market reaches €599.99 to €8,014.18. A seller near the bottom of the entry band is cheap; one in the middle is not, however the marketing reads. The Cheap e-bikes ranking puts these prices side by side, and the Fiido review shows how another budget seller describes its own entry bike.

The assist class settles it before anything else

E-bikes at the same price can be legal in different places. HK BEIRUI TRADE CO. lists us class 2 assist, iSinwheel lists EU 25, and those classes cap assisted speed differently. A bike priced for a single market can exceed another market's limit, so the cheapness does not travel. iSinwheel also lists en 15194 certification on its e-bike collection, the European standard quoted for e-bike approvals. Settle the class before you settle the bike, because it decides what you may ride.

Drive layout is the next cheap-money question. HK BEIRUI TRADE CO. lists hub drive and confirms a throttle, and its product pages also confirm suspension, though those two entries sit on dirt bike and scooter pages rather than the e-bike list. Its 40 to 56 figure and kick scooter label come from a scooter entry, so keep that top speed out of any e-bike comparison.

Range and battery, including two figures that disagree

Claimed range is the easiest number to quote and the hardest to carry across sellers. HK BEIRUI TRADE CO. lists 129 on a dirt bike, iSinwheel lists 59.5, and the gap looks like a clear win until you notice the two come from different product types on different pages. Range also moves with rider weight, terrain and assist level, so a headline claim tells you little on its own.

Battery capacity is where iSinwheel's own listing disagrees with itself: 750 appears on its scooter comparison page and 720 on its e-bike collection. We are not picking a winner for you. HK BEIRUI TRADE CO. lists 1,800 and confirms a removable battery, so its charging and swapping story is the clearer one to plan around. The iSinwheel review and the HK BEIRUI TRADE CO. review set out what each seller does and does not answer.

Weight and load decide whether a cheap bike stays cheap

A bike carried up stairs or lifted into a train has an ongoing cost. HK BEIRUI TRADE CO. lists 22.5 on a mountain bike and 20.4 on a scooter with a seat, while iSinwheel lists no comparable weight, so this part of the comparison only runs one way. Both brands cover commuter and folding shapes, commuter, folding and fat tire for HK BEIRUI TRADE CO. and commuter, city and step through for iSinwheel, and a step-through or folding frame is where some of that weight comes back down.

Load ratings matter if you carry a bag, a child or a weekly shop. HK BEIRUI TRADE CO. lists 136 to 166 for a scooter and 174.6 on an e-bike in that range, so the e-bike figure is the one to plan with. Both are model figures rather than a promise for every bike in the range.

Power and brakes, and where the cheap end thins out

Power is the specification most likely to move the price. Nominal power across the listings we track runs 250 to 2,600, so a budget bike belongs at the low end of that spread and should not be measured against a machine at the top of it. On stopping power the brands claim different things: HK BEIRUI TRADE CO. lists hydraulic disc, iSinwheel lists disc. Brakes are the part a budget buyer pays for twice if the claim is wrong, so ask which model and which page each one comes from.

That question generalises. iSinwheel's brake, range and battery entries all sit on a scooter comparison page, while its assist class and certification sit on the e-bike collection. Price the bike on what the e-bike page states and treat the rest as open. The ANCHEER review is a useful further read for brands working at the same budget level.

Returns, warranty and who you are really buying from

Cheap hardware is a long bet, so the paperwork carries more weight than usual. HK BEIRUI TRADE CO. lists 14 days for returns, support through email and help centre, and warranty cover of 12 months on frame and battery alike. iSinwheel's listing shows no return window and no support channels, which is not the same as having neither; it leaves those points open until you ask.

The company behind the bike settles the rest. iSinwheel was founded in 2018. HK BEIRUI TRADE CO. trades as HK BEIRUI TRADE CO., LIMITED with a headquarters in HK and a shipping policy aimed at the US, so it is worth settling early where a return would land and who answers support. Our HK BEIRUI TRADE CO. review and iSinwheel review put the two side by side.
